REQUEST TO ACTIVATE UTILITY SERVICE

PLEASE READ 

Services may be started the next business day Monday - Thursday with a 24 hour advance notice.

Prior to starting, please have the following information:

  • Primary customer name, social security number, service address, mailing address

  • Secondary contact name and social security number

  • Landlord name, email and phone number (if leasing) and a signed lease/rental agreement.

    • You will need to attach a copy of the lease to the request or email a copy of your lease to utilities@gilbertaz.gov prior to first day of utility service.

Please make sure all faucets and landscaping water is off. To ensure the water is off, turn off the main valve located at the front hose. The water will not be turned on if water appears to be running inside or outside the home.

Service can be activated Monday though Thursday with the exception of holidays.

Service Dates
There are two service date options for activation: same day service and future day service.


Same day service:

  • It is before 5:30pm and are requesting service for the same day
  • It is after 5:30pm and you are requesting service for the following business day
  • It is a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or holiday and you are requesting service for the following business day
  • Not available if water is currently on at the property

Future day service:

  • It is before 5:30pm and you are requesting service for the following business day or later
  • It is after 5:30pm and you are requesting service 2 business days out or further
  • It is a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or holiday and you are requesting service 2 business days out or further

 

If a future date is not selected, the same-day fee of $32.34 will be charged.

With same day service, you are requesting service today if it is a business day prior to 5:30pm or the next business day if after 5:30pm.

    All Real Property Rentals in Gilbert are Taxable

    The Arizona Department of Revenue (AZDOR) administers the transaction privilege tax for the Town of Gilbert; this means that you as a property owner will report and pay your Town of Gilbert transaction privilege tax to the AZDOR. Taxes can either be included in your overall price, or charged to your renter as a separate line item. If you use a property management company (PMC) you still need your own TPT (Sales) Tax license with AZDOR.

    All residential properties being used as a rental in the Town of Gilbert need to be registered with Maricopa County as a rental.

    Help a neighbor in need! Neighbor 2 Neighbor (N2N) has provided a way for Gilbert residents to help support neighbors in need through a monthly utility bill donation.  100% of funds donated are distributed to non-profit agencies that provide assistance to Gilbert's low-income families, individuals, disabled, seniors and at-risk youth.

    UTILITY SERVICE DEPOSIT

    New accounts with the Town of Gilbert MAY BE ASSESSED the minimum deposit indicated below and a higher deposit could be required based on prior payment history. The deposit will be charged on the first bill unless the previous history requires that we obtain the deposit prior to activating the account.

    Residential-Refuse Accounts have a mandatory deposit.

    Deposits will credit back to the utility account after 12 months of ontime CONSECUTIVE payments or when the account closes. One late payment will start the 12 months over again.

     

    Minimum Deposit
    Single Family Residential Accounts $200
    Commercial or Multi-Family Residential Accounts $200 or average two month bill, whichever is higher

    Is there an active burglar alarm at this property? Checking yes indicates agreement to be billed the $5 annual registration fee on your utility account.
