Meter Install Request

This is for requesting the installation of a meter that is associated with a Town of Gilbert permit that has been paid and issued.

Meters associated with the same permit can be requested using one request form, up to 10 meters.

If you area requesting a Construction Hydrant Meter, please go here to complete the appropriate form.

Please allow 7-10 business days from request date to get the meter set. If any of the information below is not correct, it may delay processing of your request.

With the exception of Single Family Residential, the Town of Gilbert now requires angle stops to be marked to indicate if meter will be connected to domestic water (Blue Paint) or Landscape water only (White Paint). This ensures a proper connection by Meter Services and correct billing.

Meter Services will not install a meter if the angle stop is not marked appropriately as indicated in the pictures below. Please ensure the angle stops are marked immediately to avoid a delay in installation.

I verify that the following have been completed. If the meter technician arrives and any of these conditions are not met, the meter will not be set.

For residential meter installs the lot is clearly marked with a staked sign in front of the meter box clearly indicating the address and lot number.

For commercial meter installs, the box must be clearly marked with a staked sign that indicates the building number, especially if the location shares the same address as other buildings.

The Town of Gilbert is only responsible for installing the meter up to the inlet side. We do not handle the plumbing on the customer side, including service lines and backflows. For optimal installation, it is preferred that the meter be installed prior to any plumbing work on the customer side. This helps avoid discrepancies in lay length and alignment issues.

The angle stop must be positioned correctly and fully exposed, free from dirt and debris. The meter box must be the correct size and be properly set to ensure adequate space for installation. All box requirements must comply with the Town of Gilbert Standards (GIL-310 This can be found on our website)
